Sol del Illimani Foundation
The Sol del Illimani - Culturas del Sur Foundation
The Sol del Illimani - Culturas del Sur Foundation began its activities in 2019 with the assistance of Inti Illimani, a highly regarded Chilean musical group with international recognition. Inti Illimani was established in 1967 and is part of the Nueva Canción Chilena movement. The group remains active to this day.
The Sol del Illimani - Culturas del Sur foundation was established with the aim of sharing the musical experience of the artists who comprise the Inti Illimani group. With more than fifty years of experience, the members have acquired an invaluable international artistic and cultural capital, as well as a valuable network of knowledge from diverse cultures around the world.
The foundation was established to harness the transformative power of culture in individuals and society, with the aim of reciprocating all that music and art contribute to the human spirit and conscience. Its efforts are guided by an ethic of equality and non-discrimination.
The foundation engages in activities and projects related to art, heritage, human rights, education, and science in order to accomplish its vision, mission, and objectives.

It is worth noting that the musical group Inti Illimani has also gained significant experience in the field of education through the Sol del Illimani School. This school was initiated by the Municipality of La Florida to develop a public artistic project in the commune, in collaboration with the founders and members of Inti.
Artistic Transmission from the South and for the South
The concept of South-South or Global South is a contemporary political and theoretical foundation that recognizes itself and weaves its international network by establishing alliances between countries in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and parts of Europe.
The cultural practices and artistic expressions of these regions differ from the Eurocentric cultural norms. The Eurocentric cultural norms demand and determine the political inherence of revealing imaginaries and aesthetics that have been made invisible by the history of traditional art. This places their social and community implications and their emancipatory potential at the center.
The Sol del Illimani - Culturas del Sur Foundation serves as a platform for artistic expression and political activism, working to provide access to culture and sensitive training for disadvantaged communities. We utilize non-traditional educational methodologies to promote the creation, production, and dissemination of various cultural expressions.
The Sol del Illimani - Culturas del Sur Foundation aims to promote and participate in an active and engaged community, fostering local activism that aligns with the cultures of each territory.

Campaings
Una Mano al Sol
The COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the families of the Colegio Sol del Illimani school community, both in terms of health and economics. Children and young people were unable to participate in their educational and artistic activities, while many families experienced job loss, particularly during the winter months of 2020.
For this reason, the Foundation organized the campaign A Hand in the Sun to activate a network and solicit donations for the direct aid of the neediest households. The objective of this campaign was to raise resources to purchase food and basic necessities and deliver them to families in emergency situations.
In the midst of health restrictions and in the most critical months of the pandemic, more than 30 families in this community were helped.

Muévete con el Apruebo
"Muévete con el Apruebo" was a campaign managed by Fundación Sol del Illimani and Fundación Delia del Carril. The objective of the campaign was to disseminate, promote, and inspire the vote for the Apruebo (approval vote) in the plebiscite of September 4, 2022.
The activity began with a tour of the main roads of La Reina, Ñuñoa, Macul and San Joaquín, in a “yellow bus.” A nod to the culture train for Allende's campaign and the transportation of Inti Illimani to the town of La Bandera, upon his arrival from exile. This “micro” was followed by a caravan of cars, carrying Chilean and Chilean flags. Apruebo.
At one point along the route, there was a brief musical intervention, lasting approximately 30 minutes, and then the caravan continued. The bus carried musicians from Inti Illimani, Legua York, singer Carmen Prieto, and poet Raúl Zurita, among other artists. The activity included an important audiovisual recording that was used to create propaganda capsules for the Apruebo campaign. Apruebo.
Execution date: July 30, 2022.
Music Workshop for Villa O'Higgins Families
A meeting and reflection activity for the families of Villa O'Higgins, created to promote communication among family members through music.
A cultural and musical outreach activity was developed for the neighbors of Villa O'Higgins, based on groups formed by family ties.
The activity proposed a simple practical work, based on Andean winds and Latin American percussions, to then perform a musical theme that connects the work of each family.
After the activity, a discussion was held to reflect on communication based on family ties, using this activity as a starting point.
